Latest news from NAPNT
By now you may all be aware of Bronwyn Bishop’s latest foray into the world of electioneering, with her call to save the children of drug users. This follows John Howard and Mal Brough’s election campaign/crusade to save the Aboriginal children from being thrown overboard by their families. Bronwyn has now called for the children of drug users who are currently placed into foster care, while their parent/s rehabilitate, to be permanently adopted out should the parent/s not achieve rehabilitation within a set period of time. ABC Radio Darwin ran the story on the afternoon "Drive" program on Tuesday 24th July and called upon the Network Against Prohibition to make a comment. Fiona Clarke, NAP's harm reduction convenor, and peer educator, took this one and put forward a powerful comment which you can read and comment on here. Date with a Magistrate Rob.F. due to face Darwin Magistrates Court Sep 4th, at 10:00am, charged with possessing 0.5g of cannabis plant material. Read on If you happen to be in the region on the date, why not drop into the court to show your support. Update:- CraigX Rubin setenced to 90 days jail, suspended pending appeal. ----------------- Bulletin Message ----------------- From: The Official National NORML Date: 17 Sep 2007, 03:07 PM NORML's Founder Keith Stroup and the Editor of High Times Magazine Rick Cusick were arrested together for a minor marijuana violation at the Boston Freedom Rally Saturday September 15th.
An undercover Boston Police Officer approached the pair, who were in possession of a very small amount of cannabis,
described as "half of a joint." They were held briefly in an on-site police processing tent on the Boston Common.
Stroup and Cusick were released after receiving a summons for a Class D misdemeanor. Both were allowed to speak on stage at the Freedom Rally later in the day. The arrest of two of the most outspoken and open marijuana advocates underscores the essential need for reform as almost 800,000 American marijuana smokers are needlessly arrested each year. Crowds for the Boston Freedom Rally were estimated at 8,000-10,000. There were just over 60 marijuana arrests reported by police at the event.

This is one of just two marijuana violation arrests for Stroup and the first for Cusick. Stroup said. “I’m sure the police would rather be chasing real criminals. We’re both productive, hard-working taxpayers.” “I’ve been waiting 33 years to get arrested,” said Cusick, chuckling. “When it happened I was calm, like a monk. I told them I’d call my lawyer, but he got arrested with me.” The 18th annual MASS/CANN NORML Freedom Rally was well attended. There was light rain for the first few hours of the event, but by 3PM there was warm, fall sunshine. The large crowd counted down to 4:20 and expressed their loud support for marijuana legalization. Audio of the speakers along with music from the event as well as an exclusive post-arrest interview with Stroup and Cusick will air on NORML's Daily Audio Stash Podcast beginning Monday September 17th. ----------------- Bulletin Message ----------------- From: EURODRUG - INFORMATION LIST OF THE EUROPEAN COALITION FOR JUST AND EFFECTIVE DRUG POLICIES. Date: 18 Sep 2007. Dear friends of freedom, Please do what you can to raise active awareness of André Fürst's conviction and imprisonment in Switzerland. André Fürst is the founder of Chanvre Info, a Cannabis agriculture and manufacturing demonstration project in Morat Murten, Switzerland. A sincere gentleman and father, André and his son André, Jr. are dear friend's who have been generous supporters of my film in Europe and Mexico. André Fürst deserves international praise for his courage, vision and contributions to the common good -- not prison. André Fürst has done in Switzerland, what we could be doing in California by next spring. As the California industrial hemp bill, AB 684 ripens in the governor's hands, the benefits of hemp agriculture and the therapeutic benefits of 'marijuana' are being repeatedly proven. The urgency of growing Cannabis is only becoming more acute as environment, economy, and social structures continue to fail. AB 684 Ref - norml It is simply a shameless violation of human rights, in the name of corporate protectionism, for government to interfere with the cultivation of any "herb bearing seed." (Genesis 1:29) The jurisdiction of the court has been extended far beyond moral accountability, inducing essential resource scarcity, while enriching the black market and increasing hard drug use, in a counter-productive effort to crimp the free agricultural and industrial markets. The following letter was written by the Steering Committee of ENCOD, of which André Fürst is the director, and is passed on to you all with the invitation to engage the effort to secure brother Fürst's immediate release. Further, I trust that the Swiss authorities will protect the health and safety of people at the Chanvre Info demonstration project. The following link is a recent account of attacks on the farm by an armed gang. click here Please see here for additional information about André Fürst and the incredible strides in Cannabis agriculture and industry he has achieved, with the highest levels of product excellence, always demonstrating global cooperation and international statesmanship with a unique personal flair. Please join with me in calling for André Fürst's immediate release, by sending word to the Canton of Fribourg, that the world is observing the suppression the Cannabis industry. We can begin coordinating ahead of the curve for a change, to plant hemp this Spring. It's the right thing to do, and regardless of what laws are passed at the state level, we have federal, Bill of Rights, Article One, individual freedom of religion, also afforded by international human rights treaties, if each of us claims it for ourselves, and each other. With international Aloha, and a prayer for peace, Paul California Cannabis Ministry

We don't receive any grants from the government and rely on our community to keep the campaign going. We are always in need of financial assistance to cover legal costs in our regular court appearences, and for general expenses. [ back to top ] |
